Heitkamp named D1 Hockey Head Coach

The Waldorf American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division 1 team announced Tuesday that Associate Head Coach Mike Heitkamp will move back into the Head Coach position for the 2025-26 season. Sean Parker remains the ACHA Division 2 coach and Chayse Haberman remains the graduate assistant for both programs.

A week ago, I turned up my radio to hear IPR over my old Saturn’s various chatterings and began my commute from Mason City. Freshly married and full of the optimism of starting my second year, I was unphased by the added length to my commute brought on by thick fog. Just moments after I left the city limits, a white wing raised up and cut through the grey. I turned to see a pair of trumpeter swans and their little cygnets making their way towards the water’s edge.

Waldorf University Hires Caden Swaney as Head Esports Coach

Waldorf University is pleased to announce the hiring of Caden Swaney as Head Esports Coach. Coach Swaney comes from Iowa Western Community College where he spent the last year as their Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals coach and team manager. He led the Marvel Rivals team to a 23-0 season, finishing 4th nationally and coached the Overwatch 2 team to top 8 in the NJCAAE. He also served as head coach and manager of Overwatch 2 at Gretna High School and Gretna East High School, earning multiple state and regional championships and finishing 2nd nationally.

Waldorf University Hires Iveth Guzman as Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach

Waldorf University is pleased to announce the hiring of Iveth Guzman as Assistant Women's Soccer Coach. Coach Guzman was born and raised in Mission, Texas. She has played in United Women's Soccer (UWS) for the San Antonio Runners in 2022 and in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) for the Sioux City Sol in 2024. A graduate of Waldorf University, Coach Guzman played for the women's soccer program from 2021-2023. She led the team in goals for the 2022 season and was named Offensive Player of the Week. Before Waldorf, she attended Western Texas College.

Waldorf University Promotes Nick Ackerman to Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Waldorf University is pleased to announce the promotion of Nick Ackerman to Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. Coach Ackerman enters his fifth year on the staff. He spent the last season as the Head JV Coach for the program. Before graduating from Waldorf University in 2024, Coach Ackerman competed as a student-athlete on the men's basketball team for one year and transitioned to a student assistant for the next three years. He also served as assistant high school and head junior high coach for his alma mater Hardin County Home Educators in 2019-2020.

Waldorf University Hires Jackson Lee as Head JV Men’s Basketball Coach

Waldorf University is pleased to announce the hiring of Jackson Lee as Head JV Men's Basketball Coach. Coach Lee brings a strong background in playing and coaching experience to the program. Most recently, he served as the Head Club Basketball Coach for Impact Sports Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he led the program's top 17U team. During the 2023-24 season, Coach Lee was on staff at the University of Arkansas as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball program, contributing to all aspects of team operations and player development at the Division I level.
