Waldorf University and the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) are partners in higher education, and offer two annual scholarships to FDNY employees.
- FDNY / Waldorf Undergraduate Scholarship for those wishing to achieve an Associate or Bachelor's degree
- FDNY / Waldorf Graduate Level Scholarship for those wishing to achieve a Master's degree
Eligibility Requirements
- Scholarship candidates must be currently employed at the New York City Fire Department, in any position and at any level.
- Eligible candidates for the Undergraduate Scholarship must have a high school transcript or equivalent (GED). Eligible candidates for the Graduate Level Scholarship must possess a Bachelor's degree.
- To be considered, scholarship applicants must have an active Waldorf University application on file (or be a current Waldorf student).
- The scholarship recipients are required to enroll ninety days from the date of the award notification. If the recipient does not enroll within this timeframe, he/she will lose the scholarship.
- Scholarship recipients must remain in good standing with Waldorf throughout his or her degree program and maintain continuous enrollment while utilizing scholarship funds. Any breaks must be approved in advance by the scholarship committee.
- Scholarship recipients are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 undergraduate GPA and 3.0 graduate GPA.
Amount of Award
These Waldorf Scholarships will cover up to sixty credit hours (undergraduate) and thirty-six credit hours (graduate) toward one online degree program of the recipient’s choice.
Funds will be applied directly to the recipient’s tuition for up to three years or until the completion of their selected degree program, whichever comes first.

- A letter of recommendation from a superior. You will be asked to upload a PDF of this letter within the scholarship application.
Scholarship Applications
The Undergraduate (Associate or Bachelor's) Level FDNY/Waldorf Scholarship opens annually on April 15 and Closes May 31. The winner will be announced by July 31.
The Master's Level FDNY/Waldorf Scholarship opens annually on October 1 and Closes November 30. The winner will be announced by January 31.
