Laptop Distribution

  • Full-time students receive a Waldorf-issued laptop during the first week of classes each semester.
  • Students arriving early for camps or activities may receive their laptop early (pending availability) at no extra cost.

Laptop Insurance

  • All students are strongly encouraged to insure their laptop against damage or loss.
  • Options include:
    • Adding the laptop to a parent’s homeowner’s or renter’s insurance policy
    • Purchasing a stand-alone insurance policy through a local insurance agent
  • The IT Department has information available about insurance options.
  • Students who do not purchase insurance are responsible for all repair or replacement costs due to theft or damage.

Change in Enrollment Status

  • Students who move from full-time to part-time can either:
    • Return the Waldorf laptop
    • Pay a rental fee to use it each term/semester
  • Students must communicate with the IT Department  regarding status changes and use of the Waldorf laptop.

Laptop Return Dates

  • The official return date is the last business day of finals week.
  • Full-time students registered for the upcoming semester may keep their laptop between terms.
  • IT will send multiple email reminders and post return dates/times around campus during finals week.
  • Students are responsible for knowing and meeting laptop return deadlines.

Fines & Charges

  • User-caused damage will be billed to the student’s account.
  • Stolen or lost laptops (and issued components such as bags, cables, or adapters) will be billed at 100% of the original cost to the student.

If Your Laptop Is Stolen

  1. Report the theft immediately to:

    • Local Police

    • Student Life Office

    • IT Department (to receive a replacement)

  2. File a claim with your insurance company.

  3. You will be billed for the cost of the stolen laptop.
