Laptop Repairs

  • The IT Department provides on-site repairs for Waldorf-issued laptops.
  • If your laptop needs service, a replacement computer may be issued so you can stay connected.
  • Warranty repairs: No charge to the user.
  • User-caused damage: Billed to the student for repair costs.
    • Examples include:
      • Broken LCD panel from drops/impacts
      • Liquid spills on the keyboard
      • Stickers, ink markings, or other defacement
      • Missing parts (keys, hinges, etc.)

Care of Your Computer

To avoid unnecessary repairs and charges, please follow these guidelines:

  • 🚫 Do not put stickers or mark the laptop with pens/markers.
  • 🌡 Protect against extreme heat or cold. Never leave your laptop in a car.
  • 🔒 Never leave your laptop unattended in classrooms or public spaces. Always lock your dorm room.
  • 🔌 Shut down your laptop daily to keep it running efficiently.
  • 🎒 Remove all cables before placing your laptop in a bag to prevent port damage.

Saving & Backing Up Files

  • Do not rely solely on your laptop’s hard drive—hard drive failures are common.
  • To protect your work, save files to:
    • Cloud storage (OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.)
    • A USB flash/thumb drive
  • Pro tip: Back up important projects before finals week to avoid last-minute disasters.

Microsoft Office

Waldorf provides all residential students with Microsoft Office 365 access, including:

  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • Access
  • Outlook

Students can log in with their Waldorf email address and password. Access to Office 365 is included for the duration of your time at Waldorf as a residential student.
