Lindsey (Pleuss) Hyman and Stephanie (Hill) Bernal were two of the ten Iowans who served as Olympic Torch Bearers in 2002 as the Olympic Torch Run weaved its way through the various states on its journey to Utah for the 2002 Winter Olympics. They carried the torch through the streets of Council Bluffs in January, 2002.

Stephanie lives in Clarinda, Iowa with her husband Juan and their two children, Gabriel and Elijah. She serves as a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor in southwest Iowa and earned her master’s degree at Drake University.

Lindsey lives in Boone, Iowa with her husband Shawn, and two children, Brady and Bailey. She teaches math at the Ames Community School District and earned her master’s degree at Simpson College. Lindsey was honored as a member of the Waldorf University Hall of Fame in 2014.
