FOREST CITY, Iowa – Waldorf University is pleased to announce the hiring of Caden Swaney as Head Esports Coach. Coach Swaney comes from Iowa Western Community College where he spent the last year as their Overwatch 2 and Marvel Rivals coach and team manager. He led the Marvel Rivals team to a 23-0 season, finishing 4^th nationally and coached the Overwatch 2 team to top 8 in the NJCAAE. He also served as head coach and manager of Overwatch 2 at Gretna High School and Gretna East High School, earning multiple state and regional championships and finishing 2^nd nationally.

Director of Athletics, Chad Gassman said, "We are excited to have Coach Swaney lead our Esports program. His passion and excitement for the sport is very apparent. We are confident he will take this program to the next level."

"I'm thrilled to officially join Waldorf University as the Head Esports Coach," Coach Swaney said. "My coaching philosophy is built on trust, discipline, and constant growth not just in game, but as a team and community. My goal is to help my team elevate their game, develop leadership and communication, and make this program something to be proud of."

Coach Swaney will welcome his team back on campus in the next few days as Waldorf prepares for the first day of classes.
